Sephiroth is our famous one-winged angel, not that he has fallen from grace, but he just hasn't gotten there yet.
Jenova cells were infused with the unborn Sephiroth to create a sort of Sephy-Nova, making him the greatest and most powerful being ever existing on the Planet. Sephiroth's willpower was stronger than Jenova's and always will be, making his will to become God his true desire. We all know that Sephiroth deserves this after all the pain he has been caused.
